How the cat purred and how the witch grinned,

As they sat on their broomstick and flew through the wind…

The witch and her cat are flying happily on their broomstick – until a stormy wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow and wand.

A helpful dog, bird and frog find the witch’s lost things, and they all hop on the broom for a ride. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK – the broom snaps in two!

When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch? And will there ever be room on the broom for everyone?

The award-winning team behind The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child return with songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged 3 and up - and their grown-ups...

This dramatization of ROOM ON THE BROOM is based on the picture book ROOM ON THE BROOM illustrations 2002 Axel Scheffler and text 2002 Julia Donaldson published by Macmillan Children’s Books.

‘Their ability to play as if drawing from a shared musical consciousness and their subtle nuances of tempo, bordered on the uncanny’.
– The West Australian

Although regarded as Australia’s finest guitar duo performing much of the instrument’s standard classical repertoire, the Grigoryan Brothers’ passion is to expand their horizons through new arrangements, their own compositions and commissions.

This ambition can be heard as the brothers take the guitar into genres such as jazz, folk and contemporary music. There are no boundaries, only new frontiers to cross. In concert, mix it all together and you have a dimension to guitar-playing rarely seen in the musical world.

In the lush, lingering melodies, a certain Russian pathos never seems far away. Long snowy nights, tender childhood memories, glimpses of lost love and unspoken passion...

By turns virtuosic and intimate, passionate and lyrical, Tchaikovsky is the quintessential Romantic— conjuring powerful emotions with his heart on his sleeve.  This program is a wonderful opportunity to hear the extraordinary talents of MCO’s string musicians at their best—with Tchaikovsky’s breathtaking showpiece for string orchestra, the Serenade for Strings, the charming Album for the Young and Souvenir d’un lieu cher, imaginative variations by Arensky and witty dances by Shostakovich.
