Come and get your ART ON

Come and get your ART ON

July 02, 2017 @ 10:00 AM

Come and get your ART ON with PollyannaR and East Gippsland Art Gallery and participate in a visual arts activity on Sunday 2 July from 10am at the Lakes Entrance Foreshore Market.  We have teamed up to create a community arts project where everyone is invited to become the artist.  No previous drawing experience required!

Participants are invited to draw shapes, patterns, words, or anything they like onto small pieces of perspex using specialist Paint Markers.  Guest artist, PollyannaR, known for creating the world’s longest photograph, will be taking photos of the participating artists with their artworks to exhibit in ‘Drawn Together’.

The community is invited to contribute and participate in this Art Installation that will draw people together and reflect the East Gippsland community.

‘Drawn Together’ will be on show at the East Gippsland Art Gallery from 31 August until 30 September. All are welcome and entry is free.

Big thanks to East Gippsland Shire and East Coast Plastics for supporting this project.

Damien Leith – Tribute to Roy Orbison

Damien Leith – Tribute to Roy Orbison

July 14, 2017 @ 7:30 PM
Forge Theatre and Arts Hub

After a sold-out run of ROY – A Tribute To Roy Orbison to metropolitan centres in 2016, revered singer-songwriter Damien Leith is gearing up to revisit the music of his idol in 2017 for a special The Hall of Fame Tour.

Taking the show to regional Australia, the tour is an opportunity for Damien to perform in towns he hasn’t played in years, or if at all. When the ROY show toured the capital cities earlier in the year, it was always his plan to take it on the road to country Australia.

Damien has always had a strong affinity with Roy’s music. He recorded and worked with the late Barbara Orbison and continues to write with legendary musicians in Nashville who worked with Roy throughout his career. In fact, when Damien released his album Roy – A Tribute to Roy Orbison it stayed in the ARIA Top 20 chart for 22 weeks and it was nominated for not only an ARIA award, but also sold multi-platinum.

Shirley Valentine by Willy Russell - Bairnsdale

Shirley Valentine by Willy Russell - Bairnsdale

July 27, 2017 @ 7:30 PM
Forge Theatre and Arts Hub

Shirley Valentine by the award winning Willy Russell and starring Mandi Lodge (Menopause The Musical and Always...Patsy Cline) is a wonderfully entertaining monologue by a 42-year-old Liverpool mother whose self-esteem has been battered by school, marriage and life in general.  When her best friend wins a Greek vacation for two, Shirley grasps the chance to head for the sun, to re-find herself, follow her dreams and to get a new lease on life.

With much humour, warmth, sympathy, human insight and a great deal of empathy for his female protagonist, Willy Russell brilliantly shows Shirley breaking out of the mould in which she was cast by society.
