Light Up Our Parks

Light Up Our Parks

April 08, 2017 @ 6:00 PM

Hundreds of residents and children in the five townships from Pioneer Bay to Coronet Bay are busily making sculptures and other light-things ready for Luminous Streets starting on April 8th.  The first event in the bigger project called, the THE EDGE OF US, Luminous Streets will link all five towns on the same night with light powered galleries of beautiful community-made artwork.

The special opening of Luminous Streets will take place on the Grantville foreshore from 6.30pm and include a smoking ceremony.  The lights will turn on in every town also from 6.30pm. There will be different foods available in each town, a bar in Grantville, music, and a fleet of small buses to carry those without transport between the different galleries.

Parking in Grantville is at the Reserve and the short opening ceremony takes place on the foreshore between the Reserve and Pier Road.  People are encouraged to bring a torch and the whole family and wander amongst the luminous displays.

The galleries are nearly ready, but there is still time to wander down to one of the Waterline parks to help put them together.  Come and enjoy the lights.  Come and help us make Luminous Streets an event we will all remember.

Check the website and facebook pages for updates.  Don’t miss this unique event that could only happen here – in the Waterline towns of Western Port Bay.

Damien Leith – Tribute to Roy Orbison

Damien Leith – Tribute to Roy Orbison

June 23, 2017 @ 7:30 PM
Wonthaggi Arts Centre

After a sold-out run of ROY – A Tribute To Roy Orbison to metropolitan centres in 2016, revered singer-songwriter Damien Leith is gearing up to revisit the music of his idol in 2017 for a special The Hall of Fame Tour.

Taking the show to regional Australia, the tour is an opportunity for Damien to perform in towns he hasn’t played in years, or if at all. When the ROY show toured the capital cities earlier in the year, it was always his plan to take it on the road to country Australia.

Damien has always had a strong affinity with Roy’s music. He recorded and worked with the late Barbara Orbison and continues to write with legendary musicians in Nashville who worked with Roy throughout his career. In fact, when Damien released his album Roy – A Tribute to Roy Orbison it stayed in the ARIA Top 20 chart for 22 weeks and it was nominated for not only an ARIA award, but also sold multi-platinum.
