Mystery In The Air

Mystery In The Air

September 08, 2017 @ 7:30 PM
Stratford Courthouse

Presented by Chester Productions and Regional Arts Victoria.

The golden age of radio is back!

Take a couple of hilariously antiquated radio plays; add two somewhat over-stressed actors and you’re ON THE AIR with Mystery In The Air!  This is the show that transports audiences back to the style, the fashion and - let’s face it - the sheer political incorrectness of the 1940s.

Of course, back in those days, such luxuries as a proper cast and a sound effects department were the norm, but in these economically stringent times, it’s all down to just our boys - costumes, sound effects, scene changes, music, voices - they’ll do the lot. It’s a big ask, and occasionally they might even succeed.

Starring Michael Veitch and Simon Oats, the results are sure to be hilarious.

A chance meeting where strangers become confidants.  Why is it sometimes easier to be honest with a total stranger than with someone we know?

Intimacy is based on real life encounters with strangers on a Melbourne Street.  Through a series of intimate and diverse conversations, Intimacy gives a candid, funny and sometimes disquieting portrait of everyday life where personal anxieties are never far from the surface.

Courthouse Gallery - Yarram

The Lively Letter is a multimedia exhibition by Calligrapher Artist, Anita George.  Anita has had a passion for, and love of art for as long as she can remember.  Growing up in country Victoria from Warrnambool to Wangaratta to Warragul, she acquired an appreciation for the colours and textures of the beautiful Australian landscape from an early age.

With a working background as a draftswoman and later landscape design, she was drawn to the beautiful letterforms and designs of the past.  Joining the Calligraphy Society of Victoria over 20 years ago she learnt the disciplines of this art.  Then followed teaching, commissions and workshops with Australian and overseas tutors.  A trip overseas followed by a move to Gippsland brought many changes to her style.

This has all resulted in a very free form and explosion of letter forms moving to gestural, layering and expressing mark making where legibility has on occasion been sacrificed.
